BRAILLE, AUDIO

Otis campus has braille and raised characters labeling interior rooms and elevators. It does not have braille or raised characters labeling buildings.

A tablet and earplugs with screen reader will be provided for access to this page. Unfortunately, I was not able to write descriptions of all the works and add them here in time. Many apologies.

ASL, LANGUAGE, SOUND

No ASL nor other language interpretation has been arranged.

None of the pieces in this exhibition include sound.

In the gallery, sound echos quite a lot. It can become quite discordant and loud.

SCENT, CHEMICALS, LIGHTS

Invitees to the Opening Reception have been asked to refrain from wearing scented products. However people may show up who have not read or followed that request. Additionally, I have no control over the chemicals used to clean the space.

The gallery is very close to an outdoor space.

The lights used inside of the gallery will be LED exclusively. There are several other types of lights used in the rest of the building, including tube lights, which are probably fluorescent.

PARKING

There is a large, multistory parking garage off of La Tijera Blvd. with visitor parking and disabled person placard spots on the first floor. There is only one van-accessible parking space, which I am happy to try and save for someone – just let me know! The other placard spots each have a 5 foot wide, blue no-parking area next to them. There is parking on the higher stories that is usually largely empty, and an elevator serving the entire structure.

Campus Safety has confirmed that visitors can park on the upper stories of the garage in addition to the visitor section on the first story.

The Bolsky Gallery is in the Galef building. The route from the parking garage to the gallery is roughly 190 feet and includes a single automatic door.

BATHROOMS

There is a men’s and a women’s bathroom on the first floor of Galef (about 120 feet from the gallery). The closest gender-neutral bathroom is on the second floor of Galef (about 220 feet from the gallery), which can be accessed by stairs or elevator, both of which are outside of the front entrance. All bathrooms are multi-use with lever-handles on the doors. Each includes a single wheelchair-accessible stall.

SEATING

The exhibition space will include chairs on caster wheels, which visitors are welcome to move. The seats measure 19 inches deep and 20 inches wide. The weight capacity of the chairs is unknown. The weight capacity of the castors is 300 pounds per chair.

There are concrete benches and plastic chairs in the hallways.
